From ManageSmarter:
A recently completed survey of 604 people done by Dave Paradi of ThinkOutsideTheSlide.com, found that audiences of PowerPoint presentations are most annoyed by the overuse of text on slides.
YES. Remember every single event you’ve been involved with that used PowerPoint as the main medium for visual communications?
After a day’s worth of presentations in a large room, human brains are rarely capable of completing sentences let alon retaining 8 hours worth of spoken AND written information. Many people rely on the fact that these decks will be downloaded and passed around later to get any real value.
Effective presentations use memorable images, (tasteful and moderate) animation and integrate mnemonic devices to help the audience remember key themes and ideas.
Ideally, the focus is on the presenter, not squinted at the screen trying to read and record every piece of data on the slide.
